NEW YORK: US stocks pared losses shortly after the open on Thursday, with all three major indexes briefly turning positive.
The Dow Jones industrial average was down 12.71 points, or 0.11 percent, at 11,402.15. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index was down 1.96 points, or 0.16 percent, at 1,196.66. The Nasdaq Composite Index was down 1.61 points, or 0.06 percent, at 2,547.33.
