ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) on Wednesday arranged professional training to equip potential women entrepreneurs with necessary mobile application development skills.
The five-day training on "Android Development & Augmented Reality" was organized in collaboration with Ministry of Information Technology (MoIT) here as part of M-entrepreneurship for Women Programme.
The training focused on equipping participants with marketing skills so that they can promote and sell their apps and also aimed at building up mobile app `master trainers' who can go back to their respective areas and carry out similar trainings for future mobile app developers and entrepreneurs.
At an opening session, Chairman PTA, Dr. Syed Ismail Shah and Member Legal MoIT, Ms Ameena Sohail emphasized the need for women empowerment and expressed that potential workforce of future women entrepreneurs can utilize their mobile app development skills for creating and promoting mobile apps in the country.
They said 3G/4G technologies have not only benefited citizens by converting a smartphone into a smart-computer, but has opened new horizons for entrepreneurship development wherein women can equally participate.
They said PTA and MoIT were working together for developing skills in women so that they can enter into entrepreneurial market without facing barriers.
Ameena Sohail appreciated efforts of PTA for conducting such activities and desired to carry out similar trainings for women empowerment in future also.
Around 20 women are participating in this workshop who would develop apps and present it to PTA. If their app is selected by the panel, PTA shall enroll the woman entrepreneur in the Smart Pakistan m-lab in order to provide mentorship and scale up services for the app.
