cderATHENS: Shares in Greece's second and third largest lender, Eurobank and Alpha Bank, will not trade until an official announcement on a merger plan is made, an Athens stock exchange official said.

This means trading of these shares will be suspended if the official announcement expected after their boards hold meetings starting at around 0600 GMT to approve the terms of the deal comes after the bourse opens, the official told Reuters on Sunday.

The Athens stock exchange opens at 0728 GMT, with a premarket session at 0715 GMT.

"Shares of Eurobank and Alpha bank will not trade before an announcement is made on the deal," the official told Reuters.
