PCDMA calls for revival of old system of e-filing

KARACHI: Pakistan Chemicals and Dyes Merchants Association (PCDMA) has called for revival of the old system of e-filing of sales tax returns to avoid delays in filing of the returns under the amended on-line system.

Chairman PCDMA Muhammad Haroon Agar, in his statement here on Monday, maintained that the amendments made by the Federal Board of Revenue in the procedure of filing monthly sales tax returns have created problems for the business community.

E-filing of sales tax returns should be simplified enough to ensure timely filing of monthly returns, he asserted adding that it would be difficult to achieve the set target of filing of the returns for July 2011, otherwise.

In support of his demand for revival of old e-filing system, the Chairman PCDMA mentioned that it was very difficult to down-load the proforma for filing of returns loaded on line by FBR. Besides, it has also proved a tough test for traders to provide all information/ details demanded in the amended procedure of filing. This has rendered the traders helpless to file sales tax returns in time.

Agar called for maximum facilitation and support to tax-payers to encourage them to come under the tax net which is very much required for the prosperity and progress of the country.
