Weekly inflation increases by 0.03 percent
ISLAMABAD: The Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) for the week ended on July 14 for the lowest income group up to Rs.3,000 registered an increase of 0.03 per cent over the previous week.
The SPI for the week under review in the above mentioned group was recorded at 309.43 points as against 309.35 points registered in the previous week.
According to provisional figures released by the Federal Bureau of Statistics (FBS), the weekly SPI was computed with base 2000 2001=100 covering 17 urban centres and 53 essential items for all income groups and combined.
The SPI for the combined group registered an increase of 0.02 per cent as it went up 296.78 points in the current week as compared to 296.71 points during the week under review.
As compared to the corresponding week of last year, the SPI for the combined group in the week under review witnessed an increase of 16.13 per cent.
As compared to the last week, the SPI for the income groups from Rs.3,001-5,000, Rs.5,001-12,000 and above Rs.12,000, increased by 0.02 per cent, 0.03 per cent and 0.02 per cent respectively.
During the week under review average prices of 7 items registered decrease, while that of 18 items increase with the remaining 28 items' prices unchanged.
The items which recorded decrease in their average prices during the week under review included tomato, garlic, potatoes, bananas, milk fresh, masoor pulse (washed) and mash puls (washed).
The items which showed increase in their average prices included onion, egg (farm), chicken (farm), LPG, rice basmati, gur, bread plain (mid size), rice irri-6, cooked beef (plate), wheat flour (average quality), beef, gram pulses (washed), wheat, moong puls (washed), fire wood, mutton and vegetable ghee.
The items with no change in their average prices during the week under review included milk powder, curd, vegetable ghee (tin), mustard oil, cooking oil (tin), salt powder, red chilies, tea packet,tea prepared (cup), cooked dall (plate), cigarattes (K-2), latha, lawn, viol printed, shirting, sandal gents, sandal ladies, chappal spang, kerosine, electric bulb, match box, gas charges, electric charges, petrol, diesel and telephone local calls.
