ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court on Thursday directed the management of Sui Northern Gas Pipelines
Limited to implement the court orders till May 19, with regard to the opening of CNG stations three days a week.
A single member bench of IHC comprising Justice Shoukat Aziz Siddiqui resumed hearing of contempt plea filed by CNG stations owners seeking initiation of contempt proceedings against the MD SNGPL for not implementing court orders and issuing new schedule of supply of gas to CNG stations.
During the course of hearing, counsel for SNGPL, Altaf Hussain sought time from court for presenting important documented details of gas load shedding schedule before the court.
He argued that due to shortage of gas, load shedding schedule was being changed in the Pothoar Region.
To this, Justice Siddiqui remarked that SNGPL should implement court orders for avoiding any untoward situation.
Counsel for the petitioner Mohsin Kiani apprised the bench that the new schedule announced by the SNGPL to supply gas two days in a week is the violation of court orders.
He said that the CNG stations had already been under severe financial crunch and it was impossible for them to meet their expenses and pay salaries to the staff.
Mohsin Kiani prayed to direct SNGPL to implement the previous court orders of supply of gas three days a week.
On February 6, the High Court had ordered the SNGPL to provide the gas to CNG stations of the twin-cities, Islamabad and Rawalpindi three days a week.
