ISLAMABAD: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that China would further invest in the energy sector of Pakistan to address the energy crisis.
Talking to PTV news, the Chief Minister said that China would also invest in Pakistan in the construction of Gwadar port, highways, solar energy and wind power projects; he hoped these projects would make the country self-sufficient in power.
He hoped that China's investment would boost the employment opportunities in Pakistan which would further magnify the development and stability of the country.
He said that China would invest in 16 energy projects in Pakistan which have the capacity to produce 21,000 MW electricity.
He said that the last year visits of Prime Ministers from both the sides after assuming power manifested that the two nations have strong bonding.
He said that President Mamnoon Hussain also paid his first official visit to china that reflected the old friendly ties between the two countries.
To a question, he said that China assists Pakistan in different power projects which will increase the country's capacity of power generation.
He said that in China he met several CEOs of big chinese companies which resulted in enormous investment in power generation projects.
He said that Pak-China economic corridor was a gigantic development project that encouraged private sector to make maximum investment in energy and infrastructure development in Pakistan.
