HANOI: Domestic coffee prices in Vietnam could rise to between 55 million dong and 60 million dong ($2,680-$2,924) a tonne later this year because global supplies are tight, the Agriculture Ministry said on Wednesday.
Export prices rose to $2,555 a tonne on May 26, up 4.2 percent from $2,451 on May 1, tracking higher prices on international markets, the ministry said in its monthly report.
The forecast price, which would set a record high, represents a rise of at least 6.5 percent from the 51.5-51.8 million dong a tonne in the Central Highlands coffee belt on Wednesday.
