China shares higher in morning trade

SHANGHAI: Chinese shares rose 0.56 percent in early trade Thursday on bargain hunting after five consecutive trading sessions in the red, tracking overnight gains on Wall Street, dealers said.

The Shanghai Composite Index, which covers both A and B shares, was up 15.34 points at 2,757.08.

The Shanghai A-share index added 16.45 points, or 0.57 percent, to 2,887.75, while the Shenzhen A-share index jumped 6.46 points, or 0.54 percent, at 1,193.44.
