imageKARACHI: Former captain Rashid Latif described, Pakistan's one-run defeat to South Africa in the first One-Day Internationals (ODI) as the stunning and worst-ever in one-day history.

"It is definitely unbelievable that Pakistan has lost to Protease in Sharjah on Wednesday," he said his in comments.

"Needing a modest 183 to win and from winnings 165-4, Pakistan collapsed to 182 all out which was stunning," he said.

In amazing and surprising turnaround, Pakistan lost their last six wickets for 17 runs in 36 deliveries and were bowled out for 182 with 23 balls to spare.

He blamed irresponsible batting and poor shot selection which caused the down fall in heart-stopping match.

He recalled that he with another former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram culprit of the second worst-ever defeat against Sri Lanka in the year 2001.

He could not remember the detail but said they could score run a ball 36 at the fag end of the match and we both returned unbeaten.

However he questioned South Africa reaching 183 after being 86-6 in 27th over and 8-129 in 35th over.

"This was more surprising for me that how South Africa such a total after made to struggle," he commented.

Instead of blaming the players for defeat against South Africa, Rashid Latif blamed Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for this mess and defeat.

"PCB is more concerned about in getting relief for banned Muhammad Aamir's affairs then on Pakistan team," he remarked. "Under such a scenario, things go bad to worst".
