Huge investment required to address energy shortage

Published Updated

imageISLAMABAD: Prominent economist Dr Pervaiz Amir said huge investment is required to address the energy crisis; particularly there is need of more investment in hydropower sector.

Talking to a private news channel, he said that the government is on right path for resolving energy crisis in the country.

Pervaiz Amir said energy and water sectors are very important for the development of Pakistan.

He said there is also need of investment in solar, thermal and wind power projects.

He added World Bank and USAID should provide financial assistance for these projects, but local investors can play vital role in this regard as mobilization of domestic resources is very necessary to overcome the energy shortage.
