PESHAWAR: A Spokesman for the Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) disclosed that power theft was incurring about Rs 3 billion loss per month and urged people to contact its Anti Electricity Theft Cell to take prompt action against power thieves.
In a press statement issued here on Friday, PESCO Spokesman Shaukat Afzal said approximately Rs 3 billion monthly loss is being faced by the company due to menace of power pilferage and sought the co-operation of people to bring culprits under clutches of law.
He said a toll free phone number 0800-29999 has also been installed at Wapda House Peshawar through which any one can inform PESCO Anti Electricity Theft Cell about the electricity stealing.
On receiving such information, he said immediate action will be taken against the culprits.
In addition huge monthly losses, he said, load shedding, damaging of distribution transformers and severe over loading of electricity system was another challenge that we are confronted.
