Shipping activity at Port Qasim

KARACHI: Shipping activity remained active at the port where a ship carrying containers berthed at Qasim International Containers Terminal on Wednesday, ort sources said here Thursday.

Five more ships carrying containers, cement, sand and iron also arrived at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

Berth occupancy was 65% at the port on Thursday where a total seven ships namely MSC Nilgun, CGM Chopin, Mercy Wisdom, Denny-Z, Mycenae, Dalduing Sunrise and Bunga Akasia are currently occupying berths to load/ offload containers, cement, wheat, rice, iron ore and edible oil respectively.

A cargo volume of 40,269 tonnes comprising 25,586 tonnes imports and 14,683 tonnes exports inclusive of containerised cargo carried in 1,000 containers (TEUs) was handled at the Port during last 24 hours.
