Shipping activity at Port Qasim

KARACHI: Five ships carrying containers, cement, iron ore and chemicals were allotted berth at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal during the last 24 hours, port sources said here Thursday.

Three more ships scheduled to load/ offload containers and edible oil also arrived at outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

Berth occupancy was 65 percent at the Port on Thursday where total number of seven ships namely OOCL Sanfrancisco, Jay Hawk, Dynamic Ocean, HR Margarita, Harsanadi, Star Masaya and Senna-4 are currently occupying berths to load/ offload containers, cement, rice, iron ore and chemical respectively.

A cargo volume of 40061 tonnes comprising 22241 tonnes imports and 17820 tonnes exports inclusive of containerised cargo carried in 1035 containers (Boxes) were handled at the Port during the last 24 hours.
