LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Thursday dismissed a petition against stopping funds of Thar Coal Power Project, being non-maintainable.
The court held that it could not interfere in the policy matters.
Justice Shams Mehmood Mirza heard the petition filed by Advocate Hafeez Chaudhry. The petitioner had submitted that the Thar Coal Power Project was launched with an initial investment of Rs. 3 billion. He said that on completion, the project would produce electricity at rate of Rs 6 per unit.
However, the Finance Ministry had stopped the funds for the project, he said and pleaded to direct the ministry for provision of funds to the project.
