Newly appointed Pakistan coach Mickey Arthur has said that he wants one captain for all formats.
According to local media report, Arthur rejected the notion of having separate captains for all three formats of the game. He said that there should be only one captain for the team.
This will reduce the problems in the team and will have more advantages. He said that he wanted to create an environment where players can perform to the best of their ability and enjoy the game, he added.
However, he also warned players that there will be no leniency shown towards ill-discipline. He also promised there will be compromise on fitness levels. “Yes, it does [make my job] a little bit [difficult] to be honest,” said Arthur. “We will assess that. I’ll go in and have a look and discuss it with Inzamam ul Haq and see what he thinks is the best way forward and we’ll go from there.”
Earlier, former Pakistan captain and legendary fast-bowler Wasim Akram expressed that he is in favour of having one captain for all three formats instead of separate ones.
Pakistan will play England in four Tests, five ODI and a T20 International from July 14 till September 7.
