imageISLAMABAD: Analysts and experts have termed the visit of Advisor on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz to Afghanistan very important in terms of enhancing confidence building measures between the two countries.

Talking to Radio Pakistan, renowned analyst Dr. Hassan Askari said visit will help improve relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan.

He said this visit will give message that Pakistan has no agenda in Afghanistan and it only wants peace and stability in the war ravaged country.

He said Pakistan has been providing shelter and help to a large number of Afghan refugees. Dr. Hassan Askari said some elements in Afghanistan want to portray Pakistan in a negative light in order to fulfill their nationalist agenda.

He said peace in Afghanistan is in Pakistan's own interest.

Prominent analyst and an expert on Afghan affairs Rahimullah Yousufzai said the visit will contribute in confidence building and enhancing confidence.

He said after the formation of new government in Pakistan it is a first high level contact which will help in reducing any tensions between the two countries.

He said people of the two countries have very good relations and bilateral trade is also increasing. Rahimullah Yousufzai said both sides need to work to improve confidence on each other.

Former Foreign Secretary Shamshad Ahmad Khan said the visit of Prime Minister's Advisor for Foreign Affairs and National Security, Sartaj Aziz, a very significant step taken by the newly elected government of Pakistan and it will provide an opportunity to the two countries to understand and adopt a roadmap.

Shamshad said this shows that Nawaz's government wants close and friendly relations with its neighbours.

Shamshad Ahmad Khan added that the representatives will definitely discuss the post-NATO withdrawal Afghan situation in their meetings.

Though the Karzai government will soon be replaced by new one but still Pakistan has taken a very good step by sending Sartaj Aziz to Afghanistan, he said.
