KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 82,349 tonnes of cargo comprising 43,599 tonnes of import cargo and 38,750 tonnes of export cargo including 4,649 loaded & empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Friday.

The total import cargo of 43,599 tonnes comprised of 23,354 tonnes of containerised cargo; 3,640 tonne of general cargo; 15,205 tonnes of bulk cargo: 13,961 tonnes of coal; 982 tonnes of wheat; 262 tonnes of cows and 1,400 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargo of 38,750 tonnes comprised of 31,439 tonnes of containerised cargo; 454 tonnes of general cargo; 6,857 tonnes of bulk cargo: 2,341 tonnes of rice and 4,516 tonnes of cement.

Five ships namely Emirates Wasl, Bengal Orchid, MT Karachi, Al-Shuwaikh and Fantastic with one container ship, two oil tankers, one general general cargo ship and one bulk cargo ship respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

Four vessels viz APL Brisbane, Taban-1, Lara Rickmers and Galveston with three container ships and one bulk cargo ship respectively are currently at the berths.

Four ships namely Helsiki, Glen Canyon Bridge, Taban-1 and Du Juan Song with three container ships and one general cargo ship sailed out to sea on Friday, while two ships namely Kota Anggerik and Sharief Verve carrying two container ships respectively are expected to sail on Saturday.

Four vessels viz YM Enhancer, Violetta, Navig 8 Loucas and Freedom carrying two container ships, one mogas carrier and one vehicles carrier respectively due to arrive on Friday, while two vessels viz MT Lahore and Salis carrying one oil tanker and one container ship respectively are due to arrive on Saturday.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 64,449 tonnes, comprising 32,004 tonnes of import cargo and 32,445 tonnes of export cargo inclusive 2,859 loaded & empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during last 24 hours on Thursday.

The total import cargo of 32,004 tonnes includes 2,850 tonnes of edible oil; 1,560 tonnes of sunflower seeds and 27,594 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo includes 32,445 tonnes of containerised cargo.

Three container ships namely CV MSC Sena, CV Nacoline Maersk and CV Dubai Express sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while another ship namely MV Voge Enterprise is expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of six vessels CV Safmarine Nagami, CV Nacoline Maersk, CV Dubai Express, CV MSC Sena, MV Voge Enterprise and MT Kei are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, sunflower seeds and edible oil respectively during last 24 hours.

As many as five ships namely Pearl Bulker, Al-Buhaira, Formation, Norgas Petaluma and MSC Anafi with canola seeds, furnace oil, general cargo, chemicals and containers respectively are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim.

A total number of five vessels viz CV MSC Anafi, MV Formation, MV Norgas Petaluma, MT Pearl Bulker and MV Al-Buhaira carrying containers, general cargo, chemicals, canola seeds and furnace oil are expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Turminal (MW-3), Engro Vopak Terminal, Grain & Fertilizer Terminal (FAP) and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Friday.
