LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday dismissed appeals of two acid attack convicts and got them arrested from the courtroom.
Justice Abdul Sami Khan heard the appeals, filed by the convicts - Muhammad Yousaf and Ghulam Farid, who had challenged their sentence in an acid attack case.
Earlier, the petitioner's counsel, arguing before the court, submitted that a trial court awarded 7 years and 10 years jail terms, respectively to Muhammad Yousaf and Ghulam Farid in an acid attack case, registered by the Faislabad police in 2004.
He said that the trial court awarded the sentence despite contradiction in the statements of the witnesses and faulty investigations.
He contended that the complainant got registered the case against the convicts on an old enmity. He pleaded the court to set aside the sentence.
However, a prosecutor opposed the request and submitted that the convicts were found guilty during the investigation and the trial court awarded the sentence on merit.
The court, after hearing the detailed arguments, dismissed the appeals and summoned the high court security who arrested the convicts.
