ISLAMABAD: The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority(OGRA) introduced two- tier slab structure on Friday revised prices of Compressed Natural Gas(CNG).
As a result, Rs 58.55 per kg has been fixed for the first region and Rs 55.78 per kg would be sold at CNG outlets of the region-II. The new prices will be effective from Saturday.
According to notification, the country has been divided into two regions- the first one includes KPK, Balochistan and Potohar area including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Gujar Khan and from Attock to Jhelum while Sindh and Punjab fall in region-II.
Earlier, a four tier slab structure was implemented for the CNG prices across the country from March 1, but the structure was slashed to two in view of feedback from various stakeholders including the CNG association, the notification adds.
For the month of the April, the prices of petroleum products witnessed partial increase keeping in view steep rise of 40 percent in diesel prices and 35 percent in that of petrol at international market.
As a result, the government will have to suffer additional loss of Rs 10 billion in addition to Rs 25 billion incurred over the last four months for absorbing shocks in international market's prices.
Meanwhile the government is expanding tax-net by identifying 0.7 million tax evaders across the country and the FBR has served notices on to these people.
