wassan-manzoor-KARACHI: The Sindh Minister for Jails, Manzoor Hussain Wassan, on Thursday paid a surprise visit to the Central Jail Karachi.

 

He met with the inmates and well as their visitors and talked to them.

 

A statement said that on the complaints of the visitors, the Minister issued suspension letter for the Assistant Superintendent of Jail.

 

It said that Wassan also impressed upon the jail staff that no dereliction in the performance of duty, would be tolerated.

 

The Minister also saw the kitchen and checked the standard of the food as well as the cleanliness.

 

He met with the inmates of the jail and inquired about their problems. Wassan also asked about the food that is being provided to the inmates.

 

He also saw the inmates acquiring the computer education as well as that of the fine arts and asked the inmates to learn skills so that after release they should become a good citizen.

 

The Minister said that in 2008 before the government of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) came to power, the daily expense of diet of inmate was Rs. 33 per head which the present government enhanced to Rs. 115 per head.

 

He said that attention is also being paid towards the standard of the food.

 

Wassan said that the security of the jails is also being enhanced.
