ISLAMABAD: Senior Civil Judge of Islamabad Muhammad Aslam Gondal on Monday extended the physical remand of former religious affairs minister Hamid Saeed Kazmi for another five days.
Naimat Ali, an investigation officer of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), informed the court that former director general Hajj Rao Shakeel was in the custody of NAB Punjab and FIA wanted to produce him in Islamabad for the purpose of investigation.
Wajid Gillani, counsel for Kazmi, apprised the court that his client was willing to cooperate with FIA and the allegations were baseless.
The Federal Investigation Agency had arrested Kazmi on March 15 after a court refused to give a pre-arrest bail in a case relating to his alleged corruption in arranging residential accommodation for Pakistani Hajj pilgrims in Saudi Arabia last year.
He had filed an application for extension of his bail in the court but the Special Court Judge Sohail Nasir rejected the bail application. After the appeal was dismissed, the FIA took Kazmi into custody.
