No wheat procurement centers in Sindh yet

Published Updated

KHIPRO: The new wheat of the current season has started reaching the markets but the food department of Sindh government has failed to setup any procurement so far causing concern to the growers.

Criticizing the provincial food department, the growers said local traders were offering them rates lower than the government rates taking benefit of the absence of procurement centers.

“This situation is causing huge financial losses to the growers,” they said adding the Rs.800 to Rs.900 per 40kg are being offered to them by the traders.

The growers said that the Punjab government always makes proper arrangements for procurement of wheat as and when the crop is harvested but in Sindh growers always face problems.
