PORT-AU-PRINCE: Two people were killed in Haiti in election related incidents, authorities said late Sunday.
A police spokesman said the deaths were reported in the departments of Nord Oust and Artibonite. However, in most parts of the country the runoff presidential election proceeded peacefully, monitors said.
The polls officially closed at 4:00 pm (2100 GMT) Sunday with preliminary results to be announced on March 31 and final ones on April 16.
UN monitors said turnout looked likely to exceed pitiful numbers in the first round when only 23 percent of 4.7 million eligible Haitians cast ballots.
