Commissioner orders arresting drivers, seizing vehicles for dumping garbage in city areas

KARACHI: Commissioner Karachi Roshan Ali Sheikh has directed all the deputy commissioners of five districts to issue orders of arresting the drivers and seizing their vehicles if found dumping garbage in different areas of city.

“The drivers should be locked up at police stations and their respective departments and organizations should also be questioned,” he said according to an official handout on Tuesday.

Commissioner said Section 144 is imposed on throwing waste and burning it in the city areas except at landfill sites, but it has been observed that all the garbage vans use to dump the waste in city areas creating unhygienic atmosphere for the citizens. “Most of the streets and roads are filled with garbage and sewage that has been a great cause of problems for the people.
