ISLAMABAD: The NDMA will send a 70-member seacrch and rescue team to Japan to help the people and the government of Japan in the wake of the devastating earthquake.
The team, which is ready to leave for Japan, will be accompanied by a Canine Unit and Field Hospital, said Chairman National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Lt. General Nadeem Ahmed here on Monday.
On behalf of the Government and People of Pakistan, the Chairman NDMA expressed sorrow for the loss of life and property in Japan due to 8.9 richter earthquake and expressed the hope that the losses could be mitigated by effective search and rescue efforts.
He stated that in order to extend help to the Japanese brethren in this hour of need, NDMA's 70-member Urban Search and Rescue Team, along with a Canine Unit, was standing by to be dispatched to the quake affected areas of Japan.
In addition, a 30 bedded modern Field Hospital is also ready and these can be flown to the quake affected areas of Japan on a short notice.
He noted that the team is equipped with the latest, state-of-the-art gear to handle such emergency situations.
