KARACHI: The National Tsunami Warning Center of Pakistan has warned that an earthquake recorded with a magnitude of 7.3 near the East Coast of Honshu, Japan, on Wednesday morning holds the potential to guarantee local tsunami.
It is not known that a tsunami has been generated as yet, said the Duty Seismologist at the NTWC of the Meteorological Department.
The Tsunami Watch Bulletin released by the NTWC, he said was based on the earthquake evaluation and on the basis of historical data the earthquake could create widespread impact.
The earthquake had a depth of 70 Km, with Latitude 38.59 North and Longitude 142.91 East.
