KARACHI: Sindh Home Department has received a list of areas prone to street crimes and extortion from senior police officers of 18 towns of the metropolis.
It also includes number of cases registered in this regard in the respective police jurisdiction of over 100 police stations of the city, according to a statement of the Home Department issued here on Tuesday.
The TPOs submitted their reports and recommendations to the Home Department on the directives of Sindh Home Minister Dr. Zulfiqar Ali Mirza.
The reports have specially highlighted the list of previous cases, details of investigations in the registered cases against street crimes and cases of extortion.
In the light of these lists and recommendations, the Home Department is contemplating a plan to take action against the accomplices of those criminals already under arrest in these cases particularly.
It has further been decided to deploy uniformed and plainclothes policemen in the affected areas following which action will be taken under the supervision of senior police officers of all the towns.
The Home Department is working closely under the guidance of Advisor on Home Affairs, Sharfuddin Memon, who brings with him rich experience as a former chairman of Citizens Police Liaison Committee (CPLC), it added.
A complaint centre is already working 24-hours on the pattern of CPLC at the Home Department office to address the grievances of the masses without any discrimination, the statement said.
