Goods-loading through passenger buses is illegal and concerned officials must take stringent measure to check this increasing trend, said Rana Sikandar-e-Azam Khan President Faisalabad Chamber Of Commerce & Industry (FCCI).

Addressing a meeting of the FCCI Standing Committee on Goods Transport, he underlined the problems confronted by this sector and said that despite of their repeated requests no step has been taken so far to redressal of same. Enumerating the problems confronted by Goods Carriers, he expressed concern over the illegal goods booking and delivery spots operating within the city area. Similarly a large number of goods companies are also operating outside the truck stand on main Jhang road. He said that the government agencies must encourage and support good companies situated within the truck stand. He also demanded proper cleanliness and efficient sewerage system for truck stand, adding that truck stand may be further expanded to accommodate new goods companies working outside its premises.

He alleged that the Secretary Regional Transport Authority is encouraging movement of goods through passenger buses which should be stopped forthwith. He also condemned Challans of trucks and goods carriers and told that custom staff was also unnecessary harassing them. He said that the booking and delivery from within city by train should be shifted to Dry Port only.
