The Karachi Port handled 202,047 tonnes of cargo comprising 128,185 tonnes of import cargo and 73,862 tonnes of export cargo including 9,169 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday.

The total import cargos of 128,185 tonnes comprised of 75,938 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,755 tonnes of bulk cargo and 50,492 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 73,862 tonnes comprised of 36,362 tonnes of containerised cargo; 37,500 tonnes of clinker and nil tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 9,169 containers comprising of 4,212 containers of import and 4,957 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 1,052 of 20's and 1,460 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 120 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 784 of 20's and 423 of 40's loaded containers while 333 of 20's and 1,497 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were five ships namely Cosco Belgium, Thor Sky, Wan Hai-611, Gulf Petroleum-4 and Fairchem Copper carrying containers and tankers respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were five vessels X-Press Bardsey, Szczecin Trader, Oriental Sakura, Bulk Paraiso and Bao Flourish carrying containers, tanker, clinker and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 209,460 tonnes comprising of 180,409 tonnes of import cargo and 29,051 tonnes of export cargo including 3,372 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Friday.

The total import cargo of 180,409 tonnes includes 67,380 tonnes of coal; 19,689 tonnes of palm oil; 30,000 tonnes of diesel oil; 15,000 tonnes of soyabean; 13,323 tonnes of chemical and 35,017 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 29,051 tonnes includes 29,051 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 3,372 containers comprising of 1,843 containers import and 1,529 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.

There was one ship namely IVS Hirone carrying coal sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while five more ships namely Kyoto Express, Hugo Schulte, Yasa Pembe, Ginga Cheetah and Stene Important carrying containers. Coal, chemical and palm oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of ten ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, bitumen, coal, soyabean, chemical, diesel oil and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as thirteen vessels viz. Thor Sky, Kobe Star, Bro Grand, Kiran Bosporus, Tyana, Al Marrouna, BW Rhine, Starling, Georgia-M, Golden Tulip, Navig-8 Stella, Chemroute Sun and Asia Liberty carrying containers, steel coil, coal, LNG, diesel oil, mogas and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were five ships viz. CMA CGM Litani, Thor Sky, Kiran Bosporus, Al Marrouna and Asia Liberty carrying containers, coal, LNG and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, Engro Elengy Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Friday.

There was one ship namely CMA CGM Litani carrying containers due to arrive on Friday.
