The Karachi Port handled 117,611 tonnes of cargo comprising 83,063 tonnes of import cargo and 34,548 tonnes of export cargo including 6,720 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday.
The total import cargos of 83,063 tonnes comprised of 58,394 tonnes of containerised cargo; 2,096 tonnes of bulk cargo and 22,573 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 34,548 tonnes comprised of 17,628 tonnes of containerised cargo; 14,620 tonnes of clinker and 2,300 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 6,720 containers comprising of 4,490 containers of import and 2,230 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 716 of 20's and 1,697 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 190 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 339 of 20's and 476 of 40's loaded containers while 341 of 20's and 299 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were six ships namely Hyundai New York, Botany Bay, Al Rehman, Bulk Pride, Silver Millie and Evgenia-K carrying containers, tanker, clinker, mogas and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were eight vessels Cosco Belgium, CMA CGM Litani, OOCL California, Thor Sky, MT Lahore, Gulf Petroleum-4, Fairchem Copper and Mandarin River carrying containers, tankers and clinker respectively currently at the berths.
There are three ships namely Cosco Belgium, Thor Sky and Wan Hai-611 carrying containers expected to sail on Thursday.
There are two vessels viz. X-Press Bardsey and DA Cai Yun carrying containers and scales respectively due to arrive on Thursday while four more vessels viz. Northern Discovery, Szczecin Trader, Hercules and Bao Flourish carrying containers, tanker and general cargo respectively are expected to arrive on Friday.
PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 215,708 tonnes comprising of 167,961 tonnes of import cargo and 47,747 tonnes of export cargo including 4,761 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The total import cargo of 167,961 tonnes includes 63,634 tonnes of coal; 16,000 tonnes of palm oil; 20,500 tonnes of diesel oil; 10,115 tonnes of soyabean; 15,000 tonnes of chemical and 42,712 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 47,747 tonnes includes 47,747 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 4,761 containers comprising of 2,248 containers import and 2,513 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
There was one ship namely X-Press Bardsey carrying containers sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while four more ships namely MSC Valencia, Maersk Sentosa, Concarn and SC Brilliant carrying containers, coal and palm oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of eleven ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, cement, rice, coal, soyabean, chemical, diesel oil and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
As many as fourteen vessels viz. Kobe Star, Bro Grand, Asphalt-II, Kiran Bosporus, Tyana, Al Marrouna, BW Rhine, Starling, Georgia-M, Golden Tulip, Navig-8 Stella, Chemroute Sun, Asia Liberty and Sloman Hebe carrying steel coil, bitumen, coal, LNG, diesel oil, mogas and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were four ships viz. Kyoto Express, Hugo Schulte, Asphalt-II and Sloman Hebe carrying containers, bitumen and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Thursday.
There were two ship namely Kyoto Express and Hugo Schulte carrying containers due to arrive on Thursday, while two more ships namely CMA CGM Litani and Thor Sky carrying containers are due to arrive on Friday.
