The Karachi Port handled 122,442 tonnes of cargo comprising 58,977 tonnes of import cargo and 63,465 tonnes of export cargo including 7,370 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday.
The total import cargos of 58,977 tonnes comprised of 55,821 tonnes of containerised cargo and 3,156 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 63,465 tonnes comprised of 23,207 tonnes of containerised cargo; 650 tonnes of bulk cargo; 29,828 tonnes of clinker; 6,580 tonnes of brite lumps and 3,200 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 7,370 containers comprising of 3,902 containers of import and 3,468 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,194 of 20's and 1,328 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 26 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 330 of 20's and 580 of 40's loaded containers while 274 of 20's and 852 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were four ships namely TR Porthos, Seaspan Yangtze, Bhairavi and Matumba carrying containers, chemical and clinker respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were four vessels MOL Gateway, CMA CGM Medea, Immortal Gold and African Lark carrying containers, tanker and barite lumps respectively currently at the berths.
PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 117,765 tonnes comprising of 78,858 tonnes of import cargo and 38,907 tonnes of export cargo including 3,063 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The total import cargo of 78,858 tonnes includes 10,050 tonnes of LNG; 14,300 tonnes of coal; 10,121 tonnes of palm oil; 5,000 tonnes of soyabean; 298 tonnes of project cargo and 29,089 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 38,907 tonnes includes 8,799 tonnes of rice; 1,000 tonnes of condensate and 29,108 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 3,063 containers comprising of 1,531 containers import and 1,532 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
There were two ships namely Ruyi Song and Antarctica carrying coal and condensate respectively sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while another ship namely Teno carrying containers is expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of nine ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, general cargo, rice, coal, soyabean, LNG and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
As many as nine vessels viz. Morgen Stand-1, African Kestrel, CSC Cyanide, BW Rhine, Maistros, Bei Hai, Stena Important, Asia Liberty and JS Fablous carrying project cargo, cement, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were two ships viz. African Kestrel and CSC Cyanide carrying cement and diesel oil respectively expected to take berths at Multi Purpose Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Friday.
There was one ship namely CMA CGM Medea carrying containers due to arrive on Friday, while two more ships namely Diyala and Kiel Trader carrying containers are due to arrive on Saturday.
