The Karachi Port handled 165,020 tonnes of cargo comprising 91,832 tonnes of import cargo and 73,188 tonnes of export cargo including 8,345 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargos of 91,832 tonnes comprised of 65,495 tonnes of containerised cargo and 26,337 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 73,188 tonnes comprised of 42,988 tonnes of containerised cargo; 25,500 tonnes of clinker and 4,700 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 8,345 containers comprising of 4,736 containers of import and 3,609 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 1,298 of 20's and 1,487 of 40's loaded while 166 of 20's and 149 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,158 of 20's and 774 of 40's loaded containers while 231 of 20's and 336 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were five ships namely CMA CGM Moliere, MSC Messina, Navios Unison, MT Karachi and Chem Venus carrying containers and tankers respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were four vessels Kota Kaya, YM Bamboo, MOL Globe and Gulf Petroleum-4 carrying containers and tanker respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 194,596 tonnes comprising 156,310 tonnes of import cargo and 38,286 tonnes of export cargo including 4,016 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Friday.

The total import cargo of 156,310 tonnes includes 65,950 tonnes of coal; 5,050 tonnes of palm oil; 15,000 tonnes of canola seeds; 4,000 tonnes of chemical; 20,539 tonnes of mogas and 45,771 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 38,286 tonnes includes 7,753 tonnes of rice and 30,533 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 4,016 containers comprising of 2,409 containers import and 1,607 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday. There was one ship namely Atlatic Breeze carrying mogas sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while two more ships namely Paramita and Lanna Naree carrying chemical and rice respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of eleven ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, rice, canola seeds, chemical, mogas and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours. As many as nine vessels viz. CMA CGM Moliere, Rabea, Intuition, Tiger Winter, CSC Cyanete, JS Fablous, St. Jean, Mega-1 and JBU Opal carrying containers, steel coil, soyabean, chemical, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were three ships viz. CMA CGM Moliere, Tiger Winter and Al-Ghattara carrying containers, chemical and LNG respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and Engro Elengy Terminal respectively on Friday. There was one ship namely Smiley Lady carrying containers due to arrive on Friday. There are two more ships namely GSL Manet and Maersk Jalan carrying containers due to arrive on Saturday.
