Building a secure e-commerce platform in Pakistan - Unionpay International partners with ishopping.pk

On September 25^th 2019 at UnionPay International Middle East Office – Dubai, U.A.E,UnionPay International (UPI), one of the leadinginternational bankcard companies and iShopping.pk(a brand of JW&FA Companies Pvt. Ltd.), a leading online shopping platform have signed an agreement to enable UnionPay Online Payment (UPOP) at iShopping.pk in Pakistan.

This collaboration will facilitate UnionPay cardholders to engage in a secure online marketplace from the comfort of their homes. This move is expected to enhance the already flourishing e-commerce acceptance of UnionPay in Pakistan.

The signing ceremony was attended by Mr. Jamal Dhedhi(CEO – iShopping.pk) along with team members& Mr. Han Wang (GM - UnionPay International Middle East Branch)& Mr. Nadeem Haroon (Country Manager – Pakistan & Afghanistan at UnionPay International ME) with his team members. According to Mr. Han Wang, UnionPay International is pleased to enter into the formal relationship with one of the pioneer online shopping platforms in the country. This partnership is a positive step towards the digitization of Pakistan. It also reaffirms UPI's commitment to offering safe and convenientonline and offline payment experience to all UnionPay cardholders.

In this Regard, the CEO of iShopping.pk, Mr. Jamal Dhedhisaid; “As we are in dynamic industry of information technology and digitization, we always pursue to come up with top line facilitations for online shopping in Pakistan. Pertaining to this agreement he further said that “this agreement will going to be an ultimate dexterity in online payments”. Mr. Jamal Dhedhi is very keen about this new update and very optimist as well;

He also pointed that;

• It will be an ease for UnionPay International cardholders to make a secured checkout and access the widest range of original products.
• Soon we will be launching QR code-based checkout with UnionPay innovative payment solutions.
• We also plan to launch a digital wallet powered by UnionPay for loyal customers along with UnionPay cardholders.
• As we always adapt the modern and innovative solutions just as those offered by UnionPay, so it will definitely be a strong partnership.

UPOP has been specifically developed by UPI to provide safe and smooth online payment service to UnionPay cardholders. Through this service, UnionPaycardholders will receive a unique OTP (one-time password) by SMS every time they conduct an online transaction. This acts as an additional verification measure to confirm the legitimacy of the transaction and can therefore effectively prevent online frauds.
