SHANGHAI: Chinese shares were up slightly in early trade Thursday on hopes that the central bank may move to boost liquidity amid the slowing domestic economy, dealers said.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index, which covers A and B shares, was up 0.13 percent, or 3.04 points, to 2,383.89.
The People's Bank of China will increase bank liquidity, including through cuts in reserve requirements, state media reported late Wednesday, quoting a central bank official.
