KARACHI: At least 55 housing schemes are under investigation of the officials of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) across the country.

This was stated by NAB chairman Justice (R) Syed Deedar Hussain Shah here Wednesday while talking to media persons after a ceremony to hand over possession of plots to the allottees of Gulshan-e-Mehran housing project of Sindh Government Employees Cooperative Housing Society.

"It will be our utmost effort to compensate all those who fell victim to the fraudulent housing schemes," he said.

He said the NAB was taking action against corrupt elements without any discrimination and recovered billions of rupees in this regard from the defaulters and those involved in any type of corruption.

"Action is only taken after thorough investigations by the NAB officials so that nobody feels victimized," he pointed out.

Earlier, he handed over the possession letters to 200 allottees out of 3,000 in the first phase.

The remaining allottees will be handed over possession after detailed scrutiny of their claims and record, said an official while briefing the meeting on the occasion.

In the year 2007, a complaint was received by NAB Sindh against the management of Sindh Govt. Employees society and others over alleged mismanagement and fraud.
