KARACHI: Brisk shipping activity was registerd at the Port Qasim where five ships scheduled to load/offload containers, chemicals and project cargo were berthed at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and Multi Purpose Terminal respectively on Tuesday, March 1. Meanwhile two more ships scheduled to load/offload containers and chemical also arrived at outer anchorage of Port Qasim during last 24 hours.
Berth occupancy was 98% at the Port on Tuesday where a total of twelve ships namely, MV. Al Farahidi, MV. Asir, Nedlloyed Mercator, Christenia, Wales-II, Protector, Sea Baisen, M.V Split, Venus Triumph, Morning Air, Al Salam II and Anichkov Bridge are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, wheat, urea, project cargo, chemicals, diesel oil and edible oil respectively during last 24 hours.
A cargo volume of 79,170 tonnes comprising 54,522 tonnes imports and 24,648 tonnes exports inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 1832 containers (TEUs) was handled at Port during last 48 hours.
Five ships MV. Asir, Anichkov Bridge, Al Farahidi, Al Salam II, Venus Triumph sailed out to sea while two more ships Moring Air and Nedlloyed Mercator will sail on Wednesday after noon. Five ships MV. Izumo, MSC Natalia, MSC Sena, Dongbu Promy and Quetta carrying containers, chemicals and furnace oil were expected to take berths at QICT, EVTL and FOTCO Terminals respectively on Wednesday, March 2.
