LONDON: The euro fell to a seven-month low against the Swiss franc on Thursday, dropping below the 1.20 franc floor imposed by the Swiss National Bank in September last year.
The euro, which has been falling broadly on growing concerns about debt problems in Spain, hit a low of 1.1990 francs.
The move will put traders on high alert for the possibility of the SNB stepping in to curb Swiss franc strength.
