Jordan issues new tender to buy 120,000 tonnes wheat

Published Updated

HAMBURG: Jordan's state grain buyer has issued an international tender to buy 120,000 tonnes of milling wheat which can be sourced from optional origins, European traders said on Wednesday.

The tender deadline is April 16.

A new tender had been anticipated by traders after Jordan made no purchases in its previous tender on Tuesday when only one trading house participated.

Jordan has faced difficulties buying wheat and barley in recent months after changed terms for quality specifications and payment reduced tender participation by international trading houses.

The new wheat tender seeks shipment in a range of possible combinations in 60,000 tonne consignments. Possible shipment periods are Sept. 16-30, Oct. 1-15 and Oct. 16-31.
