ISLAMABAD: Chairperson Standing Committee for Law and Justice Nasim Akhtar Chaudhry said PPP led coalition government fulfilled its commitment regarding holding of successful Senate elections in time.
Talking to PTV, she said it is a great achievement of the present government that it strengthened the democratic institutions through new amendments in the constitutions with national consensus and restored the 1973 constitution in its original shape.
She said President Asif Ali Zardari set a great parliamentary precedent in Pakistan and handed over his powers to the parliament and provinces instead of usurping powers like former presidents.
She said the government also strengthened Election Commission of Pakistan to the extent that now nobody will blame the government for any kind of rigging in elections.
