How ironic it is that the Trump administration continues to treat a country that has rendered unmatched sacrifices in the global war on terror with sheer disdain and ambivalence. Nikki Haley, the US envoy to the United Nations has, for example, said that her country is urging Pakistan more strongly not to give safe havens to terrorists. According to her, Pakistan has been cooperating with the United States, but Washington cannot accept any government protecting terrorists.
Pakistan's cooperation is seen as key to the success of President Donald Trump's Afghanistan policy. It must acknowledge without any reservations highly positive role of Pakistan in obtaining lasting peace in Afghanistan.
