Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has allowed the caretaker government to decide on its own for routine transfers and postings of officials in Federal Secretariat, its attached departments and autonomous bodies up to BPS-19, which are not in connection with officers deputed for election. According to a notification issued by the ECP on Tuesday, the government will have to seek prior permission from the ECP for transfers and postings of the officers in BPS-20 and above.
Other categories in which transfers and postings have been allowed include judges, diplomats, vice-chancellors of universities, law officers, defense forces officers, and secondment of defence forces' officers against civil posts. The ECP had earlier banned transfers and postings of government employments in view of July 25 general election in the country.
