The Karachi Port handled 88,301 tonnes of cargo comprising 59,053 tonnes of import cargo and 29,248 tonnes of export cargo including 1,938 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday.
The total import cargo of 59,053 tonnes comprised of 10,494 tonnes of containerised cargo; 3,639 tonnes of bulk cargo; 20,853 tonnes of coal; 5,664 tonnes of soyabean meal; 6,488 tonnes of fertilizer and 11,915 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 29,248 tonnes comprised of 9,606 tonnes of containerised cargo; 150 tonnes of bulk cargo; 16,692 tonnes of wheat; and 2,800 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 1,938 containers comprising of 699 containers import and 1,239 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 159 of 20's and 270 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and nil of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 306 of 20's and 51 of 40's loaded containers while 233 of 20's and 299 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were seven ships namely Express Kangchenjunga, MSC Hina, Kota Karim, MT Shalamar, Asbong-1, Flagship Tulip and Rickmers Antwerp carrying containers, oil tanker, bitumen, mogas and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were six vessels viz. MSC Hina, Kota Karim, STI Queens, Star Eos, Mariner and Development Way carrying containers, oil tanker, coal, fertilizer and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 201,732 tonnes comprising 155,566 tonnes of import cargo and 46,166 tonnes of export cargo including 3,510 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The total import cargo of 155,566 tonnes includes 40,890 tonnes of diesel oil; 15,820 tonnes of palm oil; 28,695 tonnes of coal; 9,496 tonnes of canola seeds; 33,000 tonnes of LNG; 1,141 tonnes of project cargo and 26,524 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 46,166 tonnes includes 6,000 tonnes of clinker and 40,166 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 3,510 containers comprising of 1,396 containers import and 2,114 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
There were four ships namely CV Express Kenchenjunga, MV Cylon Princess, MV MI Harmony and MT UACC Riyadh carrying containers, cement, coal and palm oil respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while another ship namely MT Al-Ajnan carrying LNG respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of eleven vessels viz. CV MSC Tomoko, CV Express Kenchenjunga, MV Da Chang, MV African Puffin, MV MI Harmony, MV Cylon Princess, MV Zhen Bang, MT Al-Ajnan, MT Constantinos, MT Argent Aster and MT UACC Riyadh were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, project cargo, canola seeds, coal, LNG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as fourteen ships namely MV MG Hammont, MV White Hawk, MV Thassos, MV Avacon, MV Young Spirit, MV Parnasos, MV Alam Mulia, MV Reem-3, MT Maria-III, MT Iblea, MT Al-Salam-II, MT Corona, MT Sky Ploeg and MT Chemroad Queen carrying soyabean, coal, bitumen, LPG, furnace oil, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were four vessels viz. CV APL Chongqing, MV Alam Mulia, MT British Emerald and MT Sky Ploeg carrying containers, coal, LNG and palm oil expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Iron Ore & Coal Berth, Engro Elengy Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Thursday.
There were five ships namely CV MOL Courage, CV APL Chongqing, CV APL Minnosota, MV Hanian Trader and CH North Dancer carrying containers and coal due to arrive on Thursday. There is one ship namely CV Hugo Schulte carrying containers due to arrive on Friday.
