The Punjab Agriculture Department has reiterated the government commitment of including small farmers in e-credit scheme and those having land up to 50 acres can now take advantage of interest-free loans being provided under this scheme. The government till now has disbursed loans to 314,000 small farmers through this scheme, which has infused a fresh blood into the dead veins of agriculture sector since its inception.
Provincial government is taking solid measures for the socio-economic uplift of farmers and has revolutionized the agriculture sector. Small scale farmers and tenants has benefited from the scheme in a big way as they found sufficient resources for sowing their crops.
A Department's spokesman disclosed here on Saturday that Government of Punjab is disbursing Rs 40,000 per acre for Kharif season crops during this fiscal year. Under this scheme farmer can get loan from Akhuwat, National Rural Support Program (NRSP), Telenor Bank, National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) and Zarai Taraqiyati Bank of Pakistan (ZTBL).
Spokesman further said that this interest-free loan contribute a great deal towards achieving 5.75 percent growth rate in agriculture sector. Under this scheme, Government of Punjab will provide interest free loans to farmers having up to 25 acre agricultural land where as farmers having up to 50 acre land will get loan on subsidized rates.
For this scheme, farmers will have to visit offices of Land Record Management and reproduce their original CNIC, mobile numbers and other details of their land. Staff will issue token to the farmers and if farmers succeeds up to their merit then bank will call him for loan.
Spokesman further said that Government of Punjab has also provided smart phones to registered farmers under Khadim-E-Punjab Kissan Package and they will get informed about loan status through special application of smart phones.
