Punjab government has constructed dozens of playgrounds, stadiums and gymnasiums of international standard during past five years across the province. Provincial Minister for Sports & Youth Affairs Jehangir Khanzada has said the Provincial government has provided more than 14 international standard sports facilities in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Multan, Sargodha, Gujranwala, DG Khan, Bahawalpur and Toba Tek Singh which include state-of-the-art cricket and hockey stadiums, swimming pool, tennis court, gymnasiums and player hostels.
On district level sports hall have been set up in Gujranwala, Nowshera Virkan for the promotion of the sports. Similarly, hockey stadium have been built in Sialkot, Sports Stadium in Rahim Yar Khan, Kasur, Sahiwal and Sheikhupura.
Play fields have been established in different areas of Lahore including Rora, Gawala, Riwaz Garden, Badoki, Aseel Suleman, Straich, Chistiyaan, and Haloki Village whereas cricket ground in Sagiyaan, Mini Sports complex and stadium in Gujranwala have also been established. Moreover, more than 75 play fields and 34 Gymnasium as well as missing sports facilities have been provided in different districts along with Vehari, Chakwal, Jahlum, Mianwali, Jhang, Nankana Sahib, Hafizabad, Gujarat, Okara, Lodhran, Layyah, Bahawalpur, TT Singh, Mandi Bahauddin, Rajanpur, Sialkot, Narowal, Sheikhupura, Muzaffargarh, RY Khan, Samundri, Tandiyanwala, Vehari, Hafizabad, Khairpur, Kolerkot, Jampur, Borewala and Melsi. He further highlighted that in order to provide information related to international sports and ease in formal education during training e-Libraries have been setup in various parks of 18 districts including Rawalpindi, Attok, Sargodha, Mianwali, Gujranwala, Gujarat, Narowal and Okara. He said grounds of 12 districts have been updated at tehsils level. Provision of sports facilities including sports equipment and playgrounds in schools at tehsils level in 24 districts and provision of appropriate infrastructure for the promotion of local government is a success of Punjab govt, he added.
