The anti-polio campaign will be formally kicked off across the Khyber Pakhtukhwa province from February 12 (tomorrow). According to the details, all arrangements have been finalized for an anti-polio drive set to commence in entire Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from February 12 to immunize 5717852 children below five year of age against the crippling disease.
A meeting in this regard was held with Co-ordinator Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Emergency Operation Centre, Atif Rehman in the chair and attended by leader of UNICEF team Dr Johar Khan, Dr Imtiaz Ali Shah of BMGF, Dr Abdi Nasir of WHO, Director EPI Dr Ikram Shah and concerned officials.
The meeting stressed on making the upcoming anti-polio drive a success and was told that after 12 February 2016 no new case of polio attack was witnessed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa that was a big achievement. To maintain this achievement it was decided to utilize all available resources to make the next anti polio drive a complete success by achieving the desired targets. The meeting was told that during next anti polio drive that would start from Monday next, children of IDPs and Afghan refugees living in camps would also be administered anti polio vaccine.
