Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has removed District Police Officer (DPO) Kasur Zulfiqar Ahmed from his post and made him OSD in the wake of murder and rape of the seven-year-old Zainab in Kasur district. In a statement issues here on Thursday, the chief minister said he has also taken notice of the firing at the protesters and constituted a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) headed by Additional IG Abu Bakar Khuda Bakhsh to probe the killing of innocent Zainab.
He said the team will submit its findings to the chief minister within 24 hours. He said criminals involved in this crime will not escape from the clutches of the law, adding that provision of justice to the bereaved family is his prime responsibility.
"I will not sit idle till the provision of justice because the cruelty is unbearable," the CM said, expressing his deep sense of sorrow and grief over the death of two persons due to the firing and extended sympathies to the bereaved families. He said orders have been issued to hold investigations of the firing incident and legal action will be initiated against the responsible persons.
