More than 50 muftis (religious scholars) have issued a fatwa (decree) for a strict punishment to murderer of Zainab, a seven-year-old victim of rape and murder in district Kasur. Organisation of Ittehad Ummat-e-Pakistan Chairman Muhammad Zia-ul-Haq Naqshbandi appealed the religious scholars for issuing a fatwa.
The fatwa declares that there is no pardon of such a heinous crime in Islam. Those responsible for negligence are also equally liable to prosecution. It further said the government should ensure transparent investigations to bring the real culprits to gallows. The government should also punish those backing such a heinous crime, it added. It may be noted that Chief Justice Pakistan and Chief Minister Punjab have already taken notice of the horrendous crime.
