Carboxytherapy - an FDA approved treatment for cellulite and stretch marks have entered into the Pakistani aesthetic industry. The therapy, which originated in French spas in 1930, uses infusion of carbon dioxide to treat stretch-marks, cellulite and under-eye circles. The non-invasive, no risk treatment is used on the face, eyelids, neck, stomach, arms, legs, and buttocks and aids in collagen repair and destruction of fatty deposits. It has almost no side effects as carbon dioxide - the major component of the therapy - is a naturally occurring gas in the body.
Poor blood circulation plays a vital role in the appearance of cellulite and dark circles. Through Carboxytherapy, blood circulation is increased to the affected areas by injecting the gas.
"Carboxytherapy is relatively painless as the scar tissues do not have nerves. It is effective as it relies on increasing blood circulation to specific areas of the body; targeting the underlying cause of cellulite and stretch marks," says Dr Tauquir Ahmad, a UK trained cosmetologist now operating in Lahore.
