Published December 1, 2017 Updated December 1, 2017 12:00am

Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi (SAW) is being celebrated across the country and Azad Kashmir with religious zeal and fervour on Friday (today). The day will dawn with a 31-gun salute in the federal capital and 21-gun salutes in all the provincial capitals to pay homage to the Holy Prophet (PBUH). Ministry of Religious Affairs has organized a National Seerat Conference in Islamabad in connection with Eid-e-Milad (SAW).
President Mamnoon Hussain would be the chief guest at the moot which would be attended by delegates from home and abroad. Seerat Conferences will be held at provincial levels. Special events and Mehafil-e-Naat have been arranged to pay respect to the last messenger whose whole life and teachings are beacon of light for the whole mankind. Processions will be taken out and Milad gatherings are being organised to mark the occasion. Foolproof security arrangements have been made on the occasion of Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi (SAW).
Major mosques in cities and towns have been tastefully illuminated for the occasion. District administrations and private organisations have also made elaborate arrangements for illumination and decoration of buildings and parks. The government has already declared a public holiday for the occasion.
The Punjab government is officially celebrating Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) and special ceremonies are being arranged in every district of the province. Masajid, shrines and other buildings have been illuminated. Na'at and Qira'at competitions along with contests of theses on Seerat-ul-Nabi (Peace Be Upon Him) will be arranged and the best performing persons will be awarded prizes.
Religious scholars said the blissful day of the arrival of Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) to this world demands promotion of the message of peace, brotherhood, national unity and cohesion. They said the auspicious day reminds us to discharge our obligations by following the teachings of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).
